John Kenny has been co-editor of Albedo One since its inception in 1993, and a fan of science fiction since the late 70s.
Before his involvement with Albedo One, he wrote extensively for Stargate, the magazine of the Irish Science Fiction Association, and was editor of FTL, the successor to Stargate.
John was a prominent member of the ISFA in its heyday and was heavily involved in the ISFA's regular Writer's Workshop, where he quickly gained a repuation as a no-nonsense editor who encouraged his fellow writers without mollycoddling them. John's fellow P-Con guest Michael Carroll says, "John was the first editor with whom I ever worked, and I think I learned more from him than from any editor since! Without his early encouragement and guidance I might have given up on the idea of being a writer."
Apart from being involved in the production of several books published by Aeon Press, he is also a writer of short fiction and has been published in First Contact, Woman's Way, Emerald Eye (an Anthology of the Best of Irish Imaginative Fiction) and others. He is co-administrator of the Aeon Award for Short Fiction, now in its 4th year of operation.
John's busy schedule currently involves teaching creative writing at DCU and, when he manages to squeeze in a few minutes, working on a novel.
