Derek Gunn

Derek Gunn

Derek Gunn is the author of the Vampire Apocalypse series (A Word Torn Asunder, 2006 and Descent into Chaos, 2008), widely praised on both sides of the Atlantic as an original and imaginative take on the Vampire legends. The books are published in the UK and US by Black Death Books.

The first Vampire Apocalypse book is currently in development as a major movie, and the series has received much extremely positive and well-deserved praise: The International Thriller Writers' Association's newsletter (January 2009) writes:

"Derek Gunn didn't reinvent the vampire novel. Instead he stripped it back to its roots, in the process tearing away the pretensions other writers have used to humanize the fabled bloodsucking monster. His books are not comforting paranormal romances; they are violent and visceral supernatural thrillers."

Derek is currently working on finishing the third Vampire Apocalypse book - to be published in 2009 under the subtitle Fallout - as well as a new stand-alone novel called The Estuary (Permuted Press, 2009)

His short fiction has appeared in the anthologies The Undead (Permuted Press, 2005), The Blackest Death (KHP 2005) and History is Dead (Permuted Press, 2007) (hmm... we sense a theme here!).

Derek is a member of the International Thriller Writers Association, The British Fantasy Society and the Horror Writers Association.
